Human trafficking – a medi-legal discussion on identifying and supporting the victims
3 June 2021
6 PM (live on Facebook)
Research has found that nearly 88% of trafficking victims come into contact with medical professionals whilst still enslaved in the US, and that around 78% of UK medical professionals who came into contact with a patient who had been or may have been trafficked reported having insufficient training to assist trafficked people. Victims of human trafficking may only come into contact with the professional once for treatment, and therefore, timeframes to act can be tight and quick thinking is required.
In this event our Criminal Law Partner – Bogdan Lamatic, and Counsel – Michael McNeir will discuss with liberatED and M.D Catalin Lulciuc on vital aspects of human trafficking, both from a medical and legal perspective.
– Understanding human trafficking
– Identifying people at risk of human trafficking
– Applying your knowledge – discussing case studies
– Action & responsible authorities
